Home / Services / Semi-detached & terrace
Renovation that respects the bones already there.
Petaling Jaya, Subang, Bangsar, Sri Hartamas — Klang Valley neighbourhoods worth keeping have proportions and bones that newer estates simply cannot buy. Reachbay’s renovation work begins by listening to what the house is already trying to do well.
Open the sightlines. Modernise the services. Keep the character.
Older Klang Valley semi-Ds were built when air conditioning was an afterthought and a kitchen was somewhere to hide. The good news is that those same houses were built with timber roofs, generous ceiling heights and walls that can be opened without collapsing the brief.
- Structural opening assessment with a registered engineer
- Wet area waterproofing & falls re-set to current standard
- Electrical, plumbing & data services rerun and concealed
- Original cornice, terrazzo and joinery restored where it deserves to be
- Tropicalised insulation in the roof void and party walls
- Phased works to keep one wing in residence where viable
A few renovations from the last twenty-four months
1970s double-storey, opened up
A pair of party walls removed, the spine staircase rebuilt and a four-metre kitchen island that became the heart of the household.
Heritage semi-D, gently restored
Original terrazzo lifted, cleaned and re-laid. A new lift shaft slipped into the side garden. The cornice stayed exactly where the builders left it in 1962.
Terrace house, vertically extended
A modest third-storey added without disturbing the neighbours’ light, with a roof terrace and an open-air bathing court.
Already own the house? We’ll come and read it.
A site walk in your existing home, with notes on what is structurally possible and what is not. Complimentary, within the Klang Valley.
